Dexter creates a believable and very detailed portrait of, let’s say, a troubled sociopath
One of my favorite parts of the show is the emotions that normal people display, thus forcing Dexter to imitate them. Good laughs when Dexter’s feigned emotions become real and he is scared out of his mind, as in his relationship with his "girlfriend" Rita, a mother of two and the victim of her abusive ex-boyfriend. I also liked Jennifer Carpenter’s acting as Dexter’s sister Debra, who adds a nice touch of color to the show without falling into clichés.
